Financial connections need to be reauthorised periodically to keep your data current. This ensures your account balances and transactions continue to update securely.

How long connections stay active

For security and regulatory reasons, financial account connections are valid for 90 days from the date you first authorise access. This means:

  • Your account balances and transactions update in real time

  • After 90 days, the connection expires automatically

  • You'll need to reauthorise access to keep your data updating

Why connections expire

Reauthorisation is required under UK Open Finance and PSD2 regulations. These rules are designed to protect your privacy and ensure you stay in control of your financial data.

How to reauthorise a financial connection

You can reauthorise an expired connection in a few simple steps:

  1. Go to the Financial LyfeHub.

  2. Find the account marked as expired.

  3. Select Reconnect or Reauthorise.

  4. Follow the secure authentication steps, just like when you first connected the account.

Once reauthorised, Lyfeguard will automatically resume syncing your data.

Note: If a connection expires, your data is not deleted. Any information that was previously synced remains safely stored, even while the connection is inactive.
